Make Your Mark
Walk'n with Winston Tshirt
Some friends asked me to design a t-shirt for the Step Up For Down
Syndrome Walk. Their sons name is Winston and the walk is held at Como
Park in St. Paul.
This is a very bright eyed yellow hair boy with lots of personality.
Originally, I wanted the shirts to be a grey or black and have the
only color on the shirt be the burst of yellow from Winston's hair.
The shirt was to be 2 colors, so this proved to be quite the
challenge. Ultimately, yellow was chosen for the shirt color which is
great. They will stand out amongst the crowd of walkers that day and
the Illustration was not compromised. The back drop is Como Park. The font here represents the parks logo
and the outlined building is the conservatory at the park. In the
illustration of Winston, there are hair pieces that are actually w's
to stand for "walk'n with Winston" - a subtle nod to the over arching
theme. Visit https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=188870321185244 for more
info on the event.
Celebrate 40
Dsigner Notes:
The theme for the event was "garden party" so we incoorporated a tree to represent life and family.
The swirls surrounding the tree grow out from within as well as create negative space in the tree. This is to show that over the course of life and live we go through many season of giving and receiving.
The three doves surronding Bruce and Kandy's monogram represent God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit's constant presence in and around their lives.
The 40th anniversary color is Ruby. We incorporated this by using a deep ruby red font to highlight the words "Celebrate", "Bruce and Kandace", and the date of the event.
Celebrate was type set in Nebraska, a cowboy font to help represent the couples taiste.
I the background, classic weeding vows that have stood the test of time and formed the foundation for the 40 years of marriage that will be celebrated at this event.
